Father’s Day on the Gold Coast

Spending Father’s Day on the Gold Coast in 2017 and not sure what to do? Why not get out and about and explore the beautiful Gold Coast Broadwater.

In 2017, Father’s Day falls on Sunday, September 3rd. September on the Gold Coast generally has beautiful crisp weather as we emerge from our Winter slumber and the weather starts to heat up again.

Here are some great suggestions to make your Gold Coast Father’s Day memorable in 2017.

Start the day with a relaxed breakfast. It’s up to you if you want to dust off the apron and whip up a delicious omelette at home or take the easy, and my preferred option, of taking Dad out and letting someone else do the cooking, and cleaning. There are some lovely cafes with picturesque views across the Broadwater at Paradise Point or the Aqua precinct at Labrador. I highly recommend the French Toast at Café 7 Paradise Point, great food with a great view.

Then hop in your car and journey South along the esplanade. A great way to work off that big breakfast is to pull up at Charis Seafood carpark at Labrador and enjoy a stroll along the Esplanade. There are two fully fenced playgrounds for the kids within the parkland area and the Ian Dipler lagoon, a sandbar protected swimming area, provides the perfect place for the family to enjoy a swim in the fresh sea water or build sandcastles on the beach.

It is Father’s Day after all so time to give Dad an experience he will never forget. Paradise Jet Boating provides the ultimate blend of sightseeing and adventure with their 55 minute Broadwater Adventure rides travelling almost 35km from Main Beach to Sovereign Islands and back. Jump on board with Dad and don’t forget to take home your photos or video (which comes on a novel jetboat shaped USB) to keep the memory alive, and provide the proof that yes you did it!  Paradise Jet Boating tours depart hourly from 9am to 4pm from Mariners Cove Marina with ½ price rides for Dad over the Father’s Day weekend.

BOOK NOW…… Dad’s ticket is half price when purchased with another paying adult or child.

Why not re-live your jet boat adventure over some lunch. The iconic Fisherman’s Wharf Tavern, also at Mariners Cove offers a casual dining experience with seating available inside or outside on the deck overlooking the Marina. Alternatively, head on up to Pete’s Seafood, just past Palazzo Versace hotel and pick up some take away fish and chips and go down to the Spit to eat, relax and soak up some sunshine. Whilst at the Spit, take a stroll out along the sea wall and enjoy an ice cream from the Seaway Kiosk which also displays interesting information and memorabilia on the Main Beach sand pumping jetty. What a relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

And so ends another day. I’m sure whatever you decide to do with your Dad this father’s day, he will love it. After all, the most important thing in life is time, and spending it with those we love. Why not combine this with some fun and adventure on the Gold Coast Broadwater, this beautiful natural asset we are blessed to have on our doorstep. Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s, Step-Dad’s and Granddad’s, we really do appreciate all that you do for us!
